As TJMS embarks on a new school year, we welcome wonderful new staff members who bring exciting energy and perspectives. Teachers are the people we look up to, the ones who shape our school community and our future. That is why it is important to get to know them and understand their goals and contributions to our community.
On Wednesday, September 3rd, T.J.M.S. welcomed students back for a new year, and many new and wonderful staff members were welcomed at the front door as well!
Every new year at T.J.M.S., students look forward to forming a positive connection with their teachers. “To form meaningful connections, form positive connections with my students, and I want to teach them math in a way they were never exposed to before,” states Mr. Pignataro. Other new staff like Mr. McConnell have similar ideas: “I hope they would enjoy it, not see it as a subject where you just sit there and listen, but more of an interactive kind of way…”
Our new educators have a range of experience; many have taught previously, while others are leading a class for the first time. Just as students have new teachers offering them a different experience, the same could be said for the new staff who have joined T.J.M.S. this year. “I taught for two years before I decided to come here… I was a collaborative teacher for eighth grade math and ELA,” remarked Ms. Blackington.
Not only are there brand new teachers, but also a completely new role on the faculty: a school-wide therapist! Like our new educators, Miss Antony has similar aspirations, such as becoming someone the students can look up to and confide in. She brings valuable experience from working as a therapist in hospitals and clinics.
With a brand-new year, these new teachers offer students unprecedented experiences. They help shape our future and bring Thomas Jefferson Middle School to greater heights. We look forward to seeing what these new staff members will bring to the table at TJMS.
